Day 275: Gardening Therapy (and Opportunities for Growth)

I never thought I would be one of those people with a garden, but here we are.

Last year we grew blueberries, which were amazing, but not made to survive down here. This year we’re trying turmeric, ginger, lavender, rosemary, citronella, water cress, and these white strawberries that are supposed to thrive in heat and taste like pineapples. We’ve also done some trimming and spread rocks over a muddy area that can’t grow grass. Eventually I would like an herb and vegetable garden, but I’m happy to take one step at a time.

Sometimes difficult things happen in our lives, and sometimes those things are an opportunity for growth and an opportunity to remember lessons learned.

People don’t change. Not really. Their behavior might, depending on circumstances, but who they are varies only slightly.

Also, I need to work on internal validation. There’s a lot there to talk about, but not today.

I guess this means I have to go back to my weird little mirror exercises. “You are good.” “You are smart.” “You are kind.” “You care about people.” “You love people.” “You are a helper.”
